A success story February 6, 2005
I finished this jumper for Foozley today.

It’s from this book which was one of my Christmas presents to myself.
I knitted it in a cotton yarn I’ve had lying around for years and years. I think it’s a Patons one, but the labels are long gone, so it could be anything. I’d always thought it was an 8ply yarn, but when I started knitting it was obviously way too thin so I was either wrong or having been knitted and pulled out a few times had worn it away a bit. I knitted it doubled to get the right thickness, which meant that I came damn close to running out of yarn. I finished with about a metre to spare.
It’s a surprisingly easy jumper to knit. The hardest part was the neck and that was just fiddly because it’s done on a circular needle.
I finished the side seams after Finn had gone to bed, so I haven’t really tried it on him yet but I did put it over his head this morning to make sure it would go over (I’ve been caught by a too small neck before). It was looking pretty good then, although it was more a poncho than a jumper.
