The 39,000 steps March 2, 2005
We had an evacuation drill today. It was a surprise - as these things are supposed to be - otherwise I’d have contrived to be out of the building at the time.
My colleagues & I had to walk down 32 floors to the ground. I didn’t find it too hard until the last few floors when my knees started to complain. I suspect I’ll know all about it tomorrow. The walk from Telstra Dome to work may not be a happening thing.
Today was just not a good day for it for me, though, as I was actually really busy. The evacuation and the waiting to get back upstairs put about an hour and a half hole in my day when I could least afford it.
It was good, though, that it was done. There have been grumblings for a while that our building was long overdue for a drill and it’s only by doing these things that you learn valuable lessons about whether people know what they’re doing or not.

At least you didn’t have to walk back up again! Good luck with the knees tomorrow.
Thought you might find this amusing, so long as you check it out before tomorrow around mid day when I think it changes: http://www.newslettercartoons.com/today/today.gif
