The puppy farm owner isn’t going to co-operate June 8, 2005

I just saw this thread on the Dogz forum.

It seems that the puppy farm owner, veterinarian and former MP Ron Wells, is not going to release his dogs to rescue. Apart, that is, from whatever dogs are left on site when the place closes, which will be only those he can’t make a buck from any more. So, the large rescue isn’t going to happen now. Whatever effort there will be will be small.

I wish this surprised me, but it doesn’t. These dogs are simply part of the production line for the cute fluffies we see in pet shops. Their owner really doesn’t care for their wellbeing. It sucks, but they’re his dogs and he can do as he wishes with them.

Thank you to the people who offered to help with knitting and stuff. I’m going to donate the jumpers I’ve knitted so far and the other stuff I’ve gathered to one of the rescue groups that were involved. There are still puppies out there that will need jumpers.

You rock, I think that’s awesome.

it’s certainly annoying but there are plenty of worthy places for what you have made and collected. And if this character does set up someone else I guess the same people will keep an eye on him.

A part of my brain knows what Mr Wells plans for ‘his’ dogs. I’ve worked with enough vets to know that not all of ther hearts are in the right places. I sincerely hope I am wrong, but then if I am not wrong, he is taking these dogs and is just going to set up somewhere else. I find both thoughts equally traumatic.

The rumours are that he is either setting up elsewhere, or that he is selling the dogs off to other puppy farm operations. Neither is good.
