Strange Day August 16, 2005

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mark @ 11:01 am

It’s a bit of a strange day today.

Mark had a dreadful night with Finn and neither of them got much sleep (although I think the Foozle did the better of the two). I considered ditching work and keeping Finn home from childcare today because I felt bad sending him off when I know he’s tired, but I didn’t and now I wonder whether I should have.

There’s a very odd vibe around today. The sound of big fish frying is almost deafening, yet I have no idea what’s going on. I could be wrong, since I really don’t know anything, but I can’t help feeling that I’m not.

Part of me desperately wants to know all about it and be in on the goss. The rest of me, though, is relieved that it all seems to have nothing to do with me and that all I need to do is wait for instructions. The lack of instructions and clear direction, though, combined with the absence of a few people, is a very big part of the strange vibe too.

At the end of the day, nothing will really change, though. That seems to be the way of the monolith at times like these.

“Life is a tale told by an idiot — full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”

It’s funny watching from the outside too. And yesterday I read a comment in Crikey that suggested one new manager’s idea of testing was to pick up the phone and dial home (overseas) to see if it was working. I hope that whatever happens you come out on top.
