Little Felted bag November 4, 2005

Here’s the bag all put together. The book showing the pattern is in the background.

And another (I seem to be incapable of taking a non-blurry photo of the damn thing!)

And here’s one of the pattern picture. You can see that my bag is less stiff than the original. I’m wondering whether I should have shrunk it more.

Some news is no news at all

The next stage of our org change was announced today and, of course, I can’t tell you anything much about it … except to say that there isn’t all that much to tell.

Lots of the highlights are things we’d all kind of guessed. And the stuff we’re actually interested in - who’s doing what, working for whom and who’s not - isn’t done yet.

For all that there was precious little information supplied to us all, there was a hell of a lot of twittering around the office afterwards.

I’ll probably be on holidays by the time the bit that effects me is announced and that’s fine. I find watching everybody else carry on like pork chops and speculate wildly about motives and machinations really kind of annoying. I’m much more of a ‘tell me about it when it’s done, not before, and I’ll be happy’ kind of attitude. I really don’t need the blow-by-blow.

Some pretty things November 2, 2005

These arrived today from The Woolshack.
pretty stitch markers

They were on sale and it seemed like a good time to finally use the vouchers Joanna gave me at the start of the year. Thank you for the lovely stitch markers Joanna!

They have some more pretty stitch markers on sale now, but I’ve been indulging in quite a bit of retail therapy recently, so I’d better just leave them…

A Little Felted Bag

Here it is.

Pre-felting:

Post-felting:

You’ll have to wait until tomorrow or the weekend for pictures of the fully finished object.

It’s my little bag hold my wallet, phone & work id on my lunchtime excursions.

The pattern is from Knit One Felt Too, but knitted much smaller. I’ve started one in the pattern size too, which might end up being a Christmas present. The yarn is hand dyed 8 ply from Highland Cottage Crafts on ebay. Lovely stuff and I have some left over which might also go into some Christmas socks.

Cancelled due to lack of interest

I think I knew I wasn’t going to work today even before I opened my eyes. I’m pretty sure I dreamed about texting my boss to say I wasn’t coming in.

There’s nothing particularly wrong with me. The last week or 10 days of continuous early starts combined with the expectation of a tough day sapped my energy to the point where there was no way I was getting out of bed and heading into the office. I slept in instead and got up just in time to see Finn off to childcare. I’ve spent the day mooching around, knitting and felting (pictures will be posted soonish) and making a concerted effort not to think about anything at all.

In a little while I’ll read the 30+ emails that have landed in my inbox during my absence to prepare myself for the fray tomorrow. I’m hoping that a day of complete rest will have me equipped to deal with tomorrow’s crap (because there’s always crap) with equanimity.
