Migraine September 1, 2006

Filed under: Uncategorized — Mark @ 8:25 am

As I rolled over in bed this morning and opened my eyes the first thing I noticed was blurred vision down the left side. No! It couldn’t be! I blinked a couple of times but it was still there. I wake up and the first thing I notice is that I’m getting a migraine. How rude!

I got up, fed critters, ate breakfast and said hello to Mark & Finn straight away since I had about half an hour before I got hit in the head with a sledge hammer. I also took some painkillers and an antihistamine, which should stop the worst of it. And I’ll be heading back to bed again soon.

I usually get migraines when my neck is badly out of alignment, but this time I would have sworn it was fine, until I noticed the unmistakeable knot near the top. Somehow, something I’ve done has put it out and, for the life of me, I’ve no idea what. This is the third migraine in as many weeks. The other 2 happened while we were working on the garden, which is unsurprising since I do all sorts of silly things to my back and neck when I’m engrossed in a job like that. The only thing I can think of this time is that I started knitting again a couple of nights ago and noticed soreness in my right shoulder last night. So maybe it’s a KRI - knitting related injury.

Whatever it is, it sucks. I have stuff to do today and a lot of it’s not going to get done because I can’t drive while my head’s like this. My depth perception is too wonky and it’s just too scary to be hurtling down the highway in close proximity to other large metal objects when you can’t really tell how far away they are. I’m also too sensitive to light, sound and smell to cope with shopping centres on days like today. So I’m a home bound girl for the day and a bed bound girl for a little while now.

Hope you get well soon too. Three in three weeks is a bit too often.

I can’t drive at all when I have a migraine and more than once husband has had to come and rescue me from some place or another because of this. If I do drive I usually throw up half way home.

Migraines are the worst. I have injections that I can give myself if I catch one in time, but there have been many that have left me curled up on the bathroom floor in the dark, sweating and shaking and puking my guts out.

Hopefully yours will be a bad memory by the time you read this. :)
