This is something I could do on one of the days I’m back at work in January while no one’s around

I’m way too busy to be even thinking about blogs, which is why I thought I’d take a moment from my one hour long task (no fecking way will this take an hour!!) to have a quick look at a couple while I composed myself.

I found Drawn via Loobylu and it immediately struck me as something that I needed to make a note of for me, for Ms Sparkles, jojof and possibly Helen - and anyone else who likes good pictures.

OK, I s’pose I’m composed. Back to the grindstone.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art shop at Melbourne Central.

If anybody ever wants to buy me a gift, pretty much anything from there would be perfect.

Things like this, this, this, or this.

Softies January 5, 2005

Loobylu is one of those annoying talented people who come up with incredibly attractive ideas.

I’m particularly smitten by her ‘Month of Softies’ project. This month’s theme is ‘Vintage Catwalk’ and I have all sorts of ideas running around in my head, which will never see the light of day (mostly because I lack the skills to put them into practise). I can’t wait to see what actually gets submitted.

I’m going to keep an eye on the Softies and wait for a theme that I can do justice to and then I’ll be right in there!

Somebody remind me about this before next Christmas December 20, 2004

I saw this article in The Age this morning and it started me thinking.

Every year it’s a bit of a struggle to decide what to buy people that falls within our price range, isn’t crappy and that they will actually like. I suspect our strike rate isn’t all that good, although we do really try. Also, pretty much everybody is drowning in too much stuff - I know we are - and finding places for more stuff gets tougher all the time.

Earlier in the year I had thought of knitting everybody a pair of socks for Christmas - one pair per person, but it seemed a little cheap really. Especially so since some of the yarn I’d use is acrylic and cost me about $1.50 per ball.

I think for next year, though, I will knit something and give something to charity on behalf of each person to the equivalent value of what we would normally spend. Much as I love wrapping presents, I can’t help thinking that this is a better way to go in the long term. Of course, this won’t apply to wee munchkins or to Mark as they should all be showered with gifts at every opportunity.

Check back with me 12 months from today and see whether I’ve gone through with it…
